Kerri Smith is an award-winning marketing and business development professional. With a financial career spanning nearly two decades, Kerri has a broad range of experience in many areas of operations, management and marketing.
In 1996, she began Kerri Smith Consulting to help smaller financial institutions reach their full potential by communicating effectively with their customers. Currently, she works with several financial institutions in Upstate South Carolina, across the U.S. and internationally. As founder and CEO of CU Exceed, LLC , Kerri Smith has the drive and determination to help financial institutions of any size and any budget excel in their market.
In 2006, Kerri developed the credit union model of PURLS in an effort to help credit unions recapture business their members may have elsewhere. PURLS (personal URL System) marries the internet and direct mail for dramatic results. Six credit unions launched their PURLS in 2007, with response rates ranging from 6-16% (national average for direct mail is less than 1%) while uncovering millions of dollars of potential loans their members had with other financial service providers.
Kerri is also the co-creator of an intensive workshop for women in leadership within the financial services industry through her partnership in LeaderPrints. This unique workshop helps women to recognize and strengthen their leadership abilities. As a co-host of the Conversations with Credit Union Leaders podcast series, Kerri has interviewed some of the most successful women in the movement on a variety of leadership topics.
Kerri is also a sought-after speaker on the topics of credit marketing and advertising. She has spoken to groups in the Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago, Scotland and around the U.S. She has also provided technical assistance to institutions in Grenada, Nevis and St. Kits, Malawi, Latvia, Lithuania, and Philippines.
